I did an 8x10 field study of this scene on location and then working from that field study and my photo references did this painting in my studio. I took this painting back out on location to put on the finishing touches. I had to hike one half mile carrying this large painting and my equipment to do that. It was done at Sedona, Arizona.
Beautiful! You created a sense of depth and the light is amazing. Definitely worth the last hike! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat piece. I find many of the most successful plein air painters like you endure great hardships and challenges to bring themselves one-on-one with the majestic beauty we can only truly see outdoors. Definitely worth the extra mile there and back.

ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love how the Sedona color is beautiful, but not overdone. The golds in the foreground are wonderful.
