LONG NOSE INTERNATIONAL

     This is the second truck in the line up, right behind the "Snub Nose Dodge". This truck had an incredibly loooong front end! The engine in this thing must have been a monster of it's time.

SNUB NOSE DODGE






    For some reason I loved the stubiness of this truck, very tall and short. It looked like a forerunner to the more modern day shorter hood versions of the Semi Truck. The edge of that building in the background was an old brothel from the mining days.

OLD BROWN INTERNATIONAL

 This was another one of my favorite trucks. It's kinda funny how certain houses, barns, or vehicles can sometimes remind me of people or of certain kinds of character. This truck reminds me of a small of stature but large in soul and will of a mechanic who works on cars and trucks, who is always greasy and talks in a deep voice. You don't want to mess with him, unless you are very tough yourself.

SUNDOWN ON A COUPLE RETIREES

     These two old Semi-Truck haulers were at the Gold King Mine in Jerome AZ. I was on a painting trip there with my friend Carol Marine. I caught this painting just as the sun was going down behind the hill. Jerome and the Gold King Mine were built on the side of a mountain so the sun goes down a little early and very fast. I did this painting in about a half an hour.

LIGHTNING BOLT PLANE




       It was the lightning bolts that got me on this one. The other thing about some of these older planes is the design of the wings, engines, fuselage, and tires. They all just go together making all these interesting angles and shapes.

BLACK NOSE PLANE



      This plane was humongous! It was hard for me to believed that those gas prop engines could actually get this thing up into the air. I bet it was around 40' or more tall.

ORANGE PLANE



      I couldn't resist the color of this plane and the angles of the wings. These old airplanes just seemed to have so much character.
